Job Summary:

The Department of Epidemiology in the Colorado School of Public Health invites applications for one or more tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor. The Department’s goal is to build a multi-disciplinary faculty engaged in cutting edge epidemiological and public health research and training. We are seeking faculty who will engage in collaborative, multidisciplinary initiatives in the area of Climate and Health.  While all applicants with strong research and teaching portfolios will be considered, we are particularly interested in candidates with deep expertise in environmental epidemiology/exposomics, infectious disease epidemiology and/or social epidemiology.      

The successful candidate(s) will conduct rigorous, externally funded research, and will teach, advise, and mentor students in one or more of the department's graduate degree programs.  Applicants should have exceptional methodological skills in epidemiological research, a record of scholarly publications, and evidence of success or ability in obtaining extramural research funding.  Applicants also should have strong potential for success in graduate-level teaching and student advising, with an ability to foster supportive and inclusive learning environments for students with diverse backgrounds, identities, and perspectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop independent, collaborative and funded research.
  • Publish research manuscripts in leading peer-reviewed journals. 
  • Submit research proposals and obtain extramural funding for research.
  • Teach courses in the PhD, DrPH, MS and/or MPH programs.
  • Mentor professional and graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows.
  • Participate in translational and practice activities of the school

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.  

 

  • A doctoral degree in epidemiology, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated potential to establish an independent, externally-funded program of research.
  • Demonstrated potential for successful teaching at masters and doctoral levels.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering diverse, equitable and inclusive environments for learning and discovery, including the ability to engage students and collaborators from racial and ethnic minority populations and other historically marginalized communities.    

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in obtaining research grants.
  • Experience in publishing peer-reviewed scientific articles.  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Successful candidates will have the ability to design and conduct rigorous, epidemiological research and to work well in a collaborative, team environment. Candidates will have expertise that enables them to teach masters and doctoral level classes on topics that include epidemiological methods and applications.  We value candidates who have obtained knowledge, skills and abilities through academic training and professional experiences as well as through lived experiences related to epidemiology, public health, and health inequity.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$116,000 – $136,000

The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting and is dependent on the number of years in rank. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
