Job Summary:

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at open rank, with a focus on expertise in one of the following areas of excellence within the department: medicinal chemistry, drug discovery, pharmaceutical biotechnology, molecular systems toxicology, and quantitative systems pharmacology including pharmacometrics.  Applicants with a demonstrated track record of team science who use computational methodology as a major component of their research to support and augment lab-based studies will be prioritized.

The successful candidate will join a vibrant and collaborative department dedicated to solving real-world problems by advancing pharmaceutical sciences through innovative research, education, and interdisciplinary approaches. As a tenure-track faculty member, the individual will be expected to establish and maintain an independent, externally funded research program that complements the department's areas of excellence. Key Responsibilities:

  • Research: Conduct cutting-edge research in the chosen area of expertise, with an emphasis on advancing knowledge and solving critical challenges in pharmaceutical sciences. Collaborate with colleagues within the department and across disciplines to foster interdisciplinary research opportunities across campus.
  • Teaching: Contribute to the educational mission of the department by participating in graduate and postgraduate teaching. Develop and deliver engaging courses that reflect current advancements in the field.
  • Mentorship: Provide mentorship and guidance to graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and research staff, fostering their professional development.
  • Service: Engage in departmental, university, and professional service activities, including participation in committees and scholarly organizations. 

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located at the Anschutz Medical Campus of the University of Colorado in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:  

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.  

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Assistant Professor:

  • Candidates must possess a Ph.D., Pharm.D., or equivalent degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology, Toxicology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in one of the target areas, medicinal chemistry, drug discovery, pharmaceutical biotechnology, molecular systems toxicology, or quantitative system pharmacology, as evidenced by a strong publication record or potential for securing extramural research funding. 

Associate Professor:

  • Must meet minimum qualifications for Assistant Professor, above, and
  • Must meet qualifications for a faculty appointment at the rank of associate professor. Please refer to University of Colorado, Board of Regents Policy 5: Faculty , for additional information. 

Professor:

  • Must meet minimum qualifications for Assistant Professor, above, and

Preferred Qualifications:  

Assistant:

  • Experience in computational and AI-based methods to enhance their research program would be advantageous.
  • Prior experience teaching or mentoring students, preferably at the graduate or postgraduate level.
  • A proven track record in collaborative science, a team-oriented approach to research, and a willingness to collaborate with other faculty members across disciplines as evidenced by publication or funding records is preferred. 

Associate:

  • Experience in computational methods, including AI-based approaches, would be advantageous.
  • Tenure eligibility under our school policies is preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience teaching or mentoring students, preferably at the graduate or postgraduate level.
  • A proven track record in collaborative and team-oriented approach to research and willingness to collaborate with other faculty members across disciplines as evidenced by publication or funding record.
  • Demonstrated research excellence with a track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and contributions to the field as evidenced by first- and/or senior-author papers.
  • A strong record of successfully securing research funding from federal agencies, foundations, or industry partners.  

Professor:

  • Experience in computational methods, including AI-based approaches, would be advantageous.
  • Tenure eligibility under our school policies is preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience in teaching or mentoring students at the graduate or postgraduate level.
  • A proven track record in collaborative and team-oriented approach to research and willingness to collaborate with other faculty members across disciplines as evidenced by publication or funding record.
  • Demonstrated research excellence with a track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and contributions to the field as evidenced by first- and/or senior-author papers.
  • A strong record of successfully securing research funding from federal agencies, foundations, or industry partners.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Assistant Professor: $122,570 - $133,223 

Associate Professor: $145,213 - $151,101 

Professor: $168,293 – $225,594

The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
