The Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology and Vascular Medicine Institute is seeking a Research Assistant Professor, appointment stream.

Responsibilities include driving independent research projects that focus on elucidating the role of myoglobin in regulating cardiomyocyte differentiation and proliferation.  For this project, they will perform bench and animal experiments, write manuscripts, and submit independent grant applications.  In addition to their research project, they will play a critical role in the Shiva Lab in overseeing and submitting regulatory documents, teaching trainees to further Shiva Lab projects, running day-to-day operations of the Bioenergetic Core under Dr. Shiva’s guidance, assisting Dr. Shiva in grant/publication writing, and interacting with Shiva Lab collaborators within and outside the university.

Effort Allocation: 85% Research, 5% Administration, 10% Teaching

Minimum Qualifications - Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology or related field.  Postdoctoral experience for a minimum of 2 years with experience in principles and techniques of biochemistry, physiology, and molecular biology.
