Evaluation and Assessment Specialist

Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Four (4) years of full-time administrative experience. Experience developing and conducting evaluations or assessments. Experience working with analysis tools, such as Excel, SPSS or SAS.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Experience working with a government entity. Grant writing experience. Experience working with programming languages (i.e.R, Python, VBA, Java). Publication in areas of assessment, evaluation, and/or diversity initiatives.
Brief Description of Duties:
Under the direction of the CIE Director and Assistant Dean for Diversity and Inclusion, the Evaluation and Assessment Specialist is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of evaluation and assessment plans for CIE diversity projects to enhance the recruitment, retention, and professional development of underrepresented minority graduate and postdoctoral scholars.
Key responsibilities include evaluation and analysis of program-relevant research and data; support of writing, submission, and implementation of grant proposals; documentation of evaluation and assessment outcomes and recommendations for annual reports and other publications; associated business transactions; supervision of full-time and student personnel, and all related administrative duties.
The Evaluation and Assessment Specialist is expected to have outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and experience successfully working independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem-solving. Incumbent must have strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail and thorough knowledge of current assessment evaluation and research trends.

  • Program Assessment/Evaluation: Provide day-to-day management of CIE evaluation and assessment plans for grants/projects to enhance the recruitment, retention, and professional development of underrepresented minority students and postdoctoral fellows. Duties will include: providing a formative and summative assessment of CIE projects/programs, top-level service to constituents, documentation of evaluation and assessment results, participation in project-related meetings both on and off campus, collection and analysis of relevant data, writing of reports, associated business transactions, all administrative duties, and supervision of student personnel. The incumbent will keep abreast of current literature and methodologies pertaining to the centering of equity in program assessment. Travel to meetings and conferences on behalf of the office as needed.
  • Data/Information Management and other Administrative Duties: Set up and oversee processes to collect data on students, alumni, fiscal issues, personnel, and other information on a regular basis and ensure their accuracy and function. Create tables and other useful tools for the use of data in decision-making, reporting, and proposal writing. Develop, augment and maintain a library (hard copy and virtual) of scholarly sources/citations to inform our policies, practices, and research activities. General administrative duties related to office management (phones, visitor traffic, supplies, repairs, procurement, equipment, etc.).
  • Grants Development Support: Under the supervision of the CIE Director, provide technical, research, administrative, and writing assistance on CIE grant proposals. Attend and support grant development meetings with other collaborators.
  • Support Assistant Dean: Provide administrative support to Assistant Dean for Diversity and Inclusion, write correspondences, handle appointments, help with special projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Special Notes:
The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
