Summary of Job Duties:
While applications from all engineering disciplines are welcome, we seek candidates with a research focus in the area of metabolism that can join the Ralph E. Martin Department of Chemical Engineering. The Chemical Engineering department is home to 16 faculty members with diverse expertise spanning healthcare, energy, advanced materials, separations, and process engineering. With over $23 million in endowments, our department also houses five endowed chairs and eight endowed professorships supporting our research, teaching, and service activities. This search is part of the College’s commitment to grow our existing strengths in metabolic research and is closely aligned with the recently established Arkansas Integrative Metabolic Research Center (AIMRC). The AIMRC is an NIH-funded Center for Biomedical Research Excellence that will provide critical support to junior faculty to establish their research programs.
The duties of this position include: (1) developing and sustaining an externally funded research program leading to national and international recognition; (2) teaching and mentoring undergraduates, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows; (3) performing service activities commensurate with the position. Candidates with a research interest in cell and tissue metabolism are highly encouraged to apply. This includes, but is not limited to, research involving engineering tools to study health conditions related to metabolism (e.g. obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, or cancer), in vitro models of key physiological systems involved in metabolic regulation, tools to evaluate cellular and tissue metabolism, metabolic engineering using gene editing tools, computational or experimental high content screening systems to understand metabolic dysregulation, and modeling and simulation of metabolic processes involved in disease. Candidates with a research focus in metabolomics and/or lipidomics are also very strongly encouraged to apply.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

• Applicants must have earned a doctorate in Chemical Engineering or closely related field  (e.g., Biomedical Engineering) conferred by the start of employment

• Excellent communication skills
