POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintenance of cancer cell lines and liquid nitrogen stocks. Routine mycoplasma testing. Cell viability assays/screens (SRB,MTS,ATP, cell death, Senescence). Immunoblotting - preparation of denaturing and non-denaturing lysates from cells and conditioned media. Extraction and quantitation of protein, DNA and RNA. WIpe tests (monthly) to maintain radioactive license.

The person will:

• Perform a moderate number of simple or moderate technical procedures; Require occasional guidance;
• Occasionally be responsible for ordering routine supplies; Rarely modify technical procedures;
• Rarely train other lab members; Rarely guide other lab members;
• A simple / limited understanding of scientific literature and the research goals and rationale is required;
• Occasionally analyze data; Rarely interpret data;
• Rarely make written contributions to papers and grant proposals.*

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelors in Biological or Chemical Science required, or equivalent skills and experience required. M.S. is strongly preferred.
• 0-2 years experience is required
• General experience in biochemical, cell biology and molecular biology techniques preferred. Must be able to calculate concentrations and prepare reagents accurately and precisely.
• Organizational skills, detail orientated, record keeping and initiative required. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proficient in MS excel, word, powerpoint and GraphPad Prism (latter desirable).
• Experience handling mice (husbandry, tumor measurements, drug administation) is desirable but not required (training can be provided).
