Summary

The Laboratory of Neural Circuit Modulation in the Departments of Neurology and Neuroscience at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking highly motivated and creative scientists. The Senior Staff Scientist will join an NIH-funded lab to engage in basic and translational neuroscience research. The laboratory uses in vivo imaging, electrophysiology and optogenetic approaches to better understand mechanisms that control neural activity dynamics, and to develop strategies to inhibit epilepsy.

Job Duties

  • Plans, directs and conducts research experiments.
  • Evaluates and analyzes data.
  • Develops research techniques and performs applications required for specific research projects.
  • Documents results of experiments and reports to principal investigators.
  • Summarizes research findings and publish results in research journals.
  • May be responsible for laboratory operations.
  • May supervise, schedule and coordinate the activities of trainees and less experienced research staff.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctoral Degree. Experience may not be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Seven years of postdoctoral research experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in neuroscience, neuroengineering, or related fields.
  • Expertise in using and developing computational tools for neuroscience data recording and analysis.
  • Experience with rodent surgical techniques and in vivo microscopy.
  • Research experience and publication record in neuroscience.
  • Excellent written/oral communication.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and collaborative basic/translational research environment.
