The Mobile Systems Laboratory at the University of Iowa is starting a new project on using machine learning techniques to improve the capabilities of hearing aids. The laboratory includes two faculty (Dr. Chipara and Dr. Wu), one postdoctoral fellow, and four Ph.D. students. Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position to work on the new project. The project will broadly focus on:
- The development of machine learning algorithms that take advantage of cloud and edge capabilities to improve the signal process capabilities of hearing aids.
- Novel approaches to integrate data from heterogeneous sensors (e.g., accelerometers, smart glasses) to improve the capabilities of hearing aids
- Programming abstractions that reduce the burden of writing time-sensitive edge-enable applications for hearing aids
Responsibilities will include developing original research, supervising system deployments, and coordinating the activities of the Ph.D. students involved in the project. We are looking for a recent Ph.D. graduate to join our group immediately for one to two years.
For further information, please get in touch with Dr. Chipara at octav-chipara@uiowa.edu .
