The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for a post doctoral research associate to serve as a member of the Neuroscience & Experimental Therapeutics team. This Postdoctoral Research Associate is in the Texas A&M University Department of Neuroscience. The position will join a research lab focused on understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in stroke. Major techniques of the laboratory include rodent surgeries and behavioral analysis, immunohistochemistry, and relevant molecular biology techniques. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will be responsible for manuscript preparation, participation in weekly lab meetings, and training other individuals in the lab.

Required Education:
Appropriate PhD
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Education:
PhD in a Science related area
Preferred Experience:
Three years of relevant professional experience.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Aptitude for oral and written communication.
Experience working with diverse individuals and communities
Responsibilities:
Experimental Research: Perform stroke surgeries in rats. Perform behavioral assays such as social interaction, NORT, T-Maze, Barnes Maze, burrowing test, open field, ART and vib-test
Data recording and analysis: Collect, record, maintain and analysis experimental/research data using EthoVision, Prism and Image J
Proposal and meetings Assisting with manuscript and Grant proposals: Prepare manuscripts for publication of research results. Attending meetings and seminars as requested. Prepare, assist, and submit grant proposals
General lab duties: Supervise undergraduate research assistants. Performs other duties as assigned.
