THE POSITION
The Compton Community College District is now accepting applications for anticipated part-time faculty positions to teach courses with emphasis in Emergency Medical Technician.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Part time teaching assignment(s). Offer and acceptance of employment is subject to verification of all information provided on the employment application, credential(s), transcripts, fingerprint results, and tuberculosis examination as required. Candidates selected for employment will be required to provide verification of work authorization in the form of a passport, valid driver's license, or other equivalent identification, and social security card.
COMPENSATION
HOURLY RANGE: $41.28 - $72.27 (depending upon education and experience)
Part-time faculty members are compensated on a semester basis according to the number of class hours assigned per semester and on cumulative semesters of instruction for the District.
Required Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED
Minimum of 2 years EMT/Paramedic academic/clinical experience in emergency medicine/prehospital care within the last 5 years.
An active CA Paramedic/RN/NP/PA/MD license
BLS Healthcare Provider
Previous experience within an EMT program and clinical experience
Principles, practices, procedures and equipment of EMT
Operation, maintenance, repair, and calibration of EMT equipment.
Record keeping principles and procedures.
English usage, spelling, vocabulary, grammar, and punctuation
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree and two (2) years full-time or full-time equivalent experience in the discipline; OR
Associate's degree and six (6) years full-time or full-time equivalent experience in the discipline OR
The equivalent - Candidates not possessing the required qualifications as stated above must complete the supplemental page of the district application and explain in detail how their qualifications are equivalent to those above; OR
Valid California Community College Credential in appropriate subject; AND active CA Paramedic/RN/NP/PA/MD license, Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) / Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) AND
Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural disability and ethnic backgrounds of college students.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
5 years teaching experience in an EMT program
40 hours of training in EMS instructional (Level I Instructor)
