Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences


The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UT Health San Antonio) is seeking a biostatistician for a full-time faculty position in San Antonio, Texas. The appointment level is open from Assistant Professor/Research to full Professor/Research, depending on the qualifications of the applicant.  The applicant must have a doctoral degree is statistics, biostatistics, behavioral sciences, or social sciences with extensive experience in conducting behavioral sciences research, research grant submissions, and planning/conducting statistical data analytic plans.  The faculty appointment will be within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences within the School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio.  This position will involve supporting all aspects of research within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.  The Department has an established history of grant funding in the areas of serious mental illness, child psychiatry, substance use disorders, and behavioral medicine.  Note that the Department is also the home of the STRONG STAR Consortium (South Texas Research Organizational Network Guiding Studies on Trauma and Resilience), and the Consortium to Alleviate PTSD (CAP).  Preference will be given to candidates who compliment one or more departmental areas of strength and/or have a history of demonstrated scholarly productivity.  
 
This position will involve serving as a research investigator and educator.  As an investigator, the faculty member will provide support for ongoing research studies and collaborate on the development and submission of research grant applications as a co-investigator or principal investigator.  As an educator, the faculty member will assist in the training, supervision, and mentorship of residents, postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty members. 
 
Preferred qualifications include:
 
•    Experience in grant submissions and working on research projects funded through the National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, Veterans Administration, and private foundations
•    Experience with modern data analytic and analysis approaches for behavioral sciences research
•    A history of publications in peer-reviewed journals
•    Experience in writing data analytic plans and power analyses for research grant applications
