JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Electrical Engineering at Penn State is seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Scholar to join Dr. Mehdi Kiani’s lab. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge advancements in electrical engineering with a dynamic research team. Dr. Kiani’s research group focuses on the design and development of state-of-the-art integrated circuits (analog, mixed-mode, power management), wireless technologies, and complete systems for various applications, including health monitoring, implantable medical devices, wireless neural interfacing, ultrasound-based systems, wireless sensing and actuating, wireless power/data transfer, and energy harvesting. These multidisciplinary research activities aim to drive innovative technologies, medical devices, and self-powered wireless systems.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Participate in the design and development of fully wireless intertied electronics nodes, interfaced with optical and ultrasonic devices, for distributed structural health monitoring.

  • Conduct innovative research in the areas of integrated circuits and embedded systems.

  • Collaborate with faculty members and students.

  • Publish research findings in conferences and journals.

  • Mentor and assist graduate and undergraduate students in research activities.

Requirements and qualifications include:

  • A Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field by the start date.

  • Strong background and expertise in integrated circuits and embedded systems.

  • Experience with integrated circuit design tools, such as Cadence.

  • Proficiency in designing and testing analog and digital integrated circuits.

  • A track record of research publications in reputable conferences and journals.

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
