JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Professor Nilanjan Ray Chaudhuri in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Penn State is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar to perform research in his laboratory. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, mentoring a Ph.D. student, writing peer-reviewed journal papers and conference proceedings, and disseminating the results in the community. 

The successful candidate will perform the following research:

  • Modeling of bulk power grids with high inverter-based resource (IBR) penetration to emulate subsynchronous and/or supersynchronous oscillation (SSO) phenomena.

  • SSO detection and mitigation through different advanced control methods.

  • Cyber layer modeling and developing resilience to data anomalies in SSO detection and mitigation.

The Postdoctoral Scholar must have a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field by the start date. This is a term appointment, funded for one year from date of hire. The successful candidate's anticipated start date is January 1, 2024.
