JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

A Postdoctoral Scholar position is available at The Pennsylvania State University  in a Plant Cell Wall Laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Marcia Buanafina . The successful candidate will study Plant Cell Walls in grasses, focused on plant cell wall feruloylation, and make use of Biochemical and Molecular approaches. 

Key Responsibilities include:

• Design vectors and perform genetic transformation in different systems

• Assess transcript abundance and plant characterization of plant material (using different techniques e.g., microscopy, LC/MS, etc.)

• Collecting, documenting, and analyzing experimental data

• Establish and maintain experimental material/samples

• Supervise undergraduate students

• Contribute with laboratory general duties

Education and Experience

A Ph.D in Plant Molecular Biology (molecular cloning, vector construction, genetic transformation, protein expression and purification, etc.) is required.

Experience with experimental techniques including microscopy, LC/MS, FTIR/Raman, etc., is a plus. Ability to multi-task, to work independently with strong work ethic and self-motivation are essential.
