Job Description Summary:
The part time Senior Research Associate is for a Reproductive Biologist / Embryologist assist PI train research staff in performing to carry out a basic research project related to oocyte physiology and zygote development.
Job Description:

Required Qualifications

Education: PhD in a scientific field or MD.

Work Experience:

  • Two years postdoctoral experience in Reproductive Biology and a publication record in gametogenesis or gamete quality.

  • Molecular biology including molecular cloning, in - vitro transcription, preparation of fusion or deletion constructs, and genotyping.

  • Proteomic methods including SDS-PAGE, Western blot techniques, and recovery of gel purified proteins for Mass Spectrometry analysis.

  • Microscopy methods including immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy, with experience using the Nikon TE2000 confocal platform.

  • Embryology experience with in vitro fertilization and embryo culture using the mouse system.

Preferred Qualifications

Work Experience:

  • Experience with research animals and preparation of IACUC documents including SOPs, protocol revisions and maintenance of animal inventory and breeding records.

  • Experience with institutional Laboratory Safety requirements including revision of safety protocols.

Job Duties Outlined:

  • Train lab staff in the microscopy methods including immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy, with experience using the Nikon TE2000 confocal platform.

  • Train lab staff on the proteomic methods including SDS-PAGE, Western blot techniques, and recovery of gel purified proteins for Mass Spectrometry analysis.

  • Assist PI with research projects.

  • Train others in molecular biology techniques such as preparing recombinant constructs, in-vitro transcription, genotyping, etc.

  • Comply with all research, safety, and lab procedures.

  • Document research data.

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
