Description of Position:

Washington State University (WSU) College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (CPPS), Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, is seeking a permanent, full-time (12-month), tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor. This position is located on the WSU Health Sciences campus in Spokane, WA. The ideal candidate will complement research and teaching strengths in the Department, including fundamental and translational pharmacology and toxicology, drug discovery and development, pharmacokinetics, medicinal chemistry, drug metabolism and transport, and drug delivery. Successful candidates will participate in teaching and training students in the Pharmaceutical Sciences and Molecular Medicine PhD program, Doctor of Pharmacy program, and/or Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical and Medical Sciences program.

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Develop and maintain a highly productive and extramurally funded research program
  • Mentor PhD, PharmD, and BS students
  • Teach courses in the PhD, PharmD, and/or BS curricula
  • Contribute to the mission of WSU and CPPS through service at the department, college, and university level

Required Qualifications:

Candidates must have an earned PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent terminal degree (such as PhD, MD/PhD, or PharmD/PhD) and at least two years of postdoctoral training in Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related field. This position has been designated by the department to require a background check.

Annual Salary: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00; commensurate with qualifications and experience.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Department and Campus:

The Department supports the training of students in the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program, including teaching concepts of the pharmaceutical sciences within the curriculum. The department is responsible for leading graduate student training in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Molecular Medicine (PhD) and undergraduate student training in Pharmaceutical and Medical Sciences (BS). The department offers a popular summer undergraduate research program that is funded by the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics. The department is world-class and research-focused, maintaining an outstanding, externally funded research program that generates more than $10M annually. Faculty members within the department conduct basic and translational research in critical areas of pharmaceutical and toxicological sciences, addressing a variety of major health disorders including inflammatory, cardiovascular, and infectious disease and cancer using in vitro and in vivo models. Research approaches of our faculty include computational pharmacology and molecular modeling; drug metabolism, disposition and toxicity assessment; pharmacokinetic modeling; pharmacogenomics; and drug discovery and medicinal chemistry.
