The base salary range, from the salary table(s), for this position is $87,100 - $113,900. Off-scale salaries' and other components of pay, which would yield compensation that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.

Position description
The Innovative Genomics Institute (IGI) is a multidisciplinary research laboratory focused on genome engineering and potential applications in agriculture, microbiology, and biomedicine. It is a joint venture between UC Berkeley and UC San Francisco, with the administrative operations located on the Berkeley campus. This position is located at the UC Berkeley campus.
The IGI is presently seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist to oversee operations, and to initiate and guide collaborations on experimental design for the custom-made automated tissue culture robot. This will be around 50% of the position's duties.
The remaining 50% will be dedicated to independent research on the use of genome editing technology to create inducible pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) that are used to develop better models/tools and, separately, better therapies.
Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
PhD (or equivalent international degree).
Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
4 years of postdoctoral experience.
