Job Description


The Department of Pharmacological and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Houston seeks highly qualified applicants from all levels, from Assistant to Full Professor, for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Pharmacology. Outstanding applicants with cutting-edge research programs in disease physiology, pharmacology, and drug discovery/development are strongly encouraged to apply.

Our Department is located in Health Building 2, a 300,000-square-foot state-of-the-art research facility on the University of Houston Campus. Research programs are supported with exceptional laboratory space, cutting-edge core research facilities, a full-featured vivarium, and teaching resources. The research strengths of the Department’s faculty include programs in cancer, immunology, neuroscience, renal, skeletal muscle, and cardiovascular. However, highly motivated and successful scientists performing research in biomedical and pharmacological fields are also encouraged to apply.

Qualifications
Eligible candidates must have earned a doctoral or medical degree, have postdoctoral experience, an excellent publication record, scholarly productivity, and a strong track record for establishing and maintaining an excellent extramurally-funded research program.  Rank and salary commensurate with experience.

Assistant Professor: Doctorate degree and minimum 3 years of postdoctoral research experience. The candidate should have a strong publication record.

Associate Professor: Doctorate degree and the person currently holding a tenure-track Assistant Professor or tenured Associate Professor position at another University/Institution. The candidate should have a strong publication record.

Full Professor: Doctorate degree and the person currently holding a tenured Associate Professor or Full Professor position in another University/Institution.  The candidate should have a strong publication record.

The candidate will be expected to develop an internationally recognized extramurally funded research program and participate at the Pharm D. professional program and the Ph.D. program in Pharmacology.
