Job Summary:

The Senior Postdoctoral Research Associate is responsible for assigned activities in the research laboratory under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator. The postdoctoral research associate should have practical experience in the handling of small animals and diverse set of skills in molecular cell biology and genetic modified mouse models are needed. This Postdoctoral Research Associate position is immediately available to investigate the molecular and cellular players that contribute to cardiovascular, lung, and metabolic diseases and to develop and test the efficacy of the effective targeted interventions.

 

Major Responsibilities / Duties / Critical Tasks:

·         Investigation of the molecular and cellular players that contribute to lung, metabolic and cardiovascular diseases.

·         Work with small animals in the preparation and analysis of lung (fibrosis), cardiovascular, and metabolic diseases using different animal models with modified gene expression.

·         General laboratory support duties—Maintenance of cell cultures, Isolation of RNA, polymerase chain reactions, preparation of DNAs including plasmid DNA, cell transfections, enzyme assays, etc.

·         Order and maintain supplies, equipment maintenance, and general upkeep of the laboratory.

·         Conduct or assist in experiments related to ongoing research projects under PI’s supervision.

·         Documentation of experimental data in timely fashion.

·         Perform experiments in the area of cell and molecular biology relating to lung injury and fibrosis, inflammation, and metabolic diseases.

·         Inventory and ordering of laboratory supplies.

·         Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

Required Education / Experience:

Ph. D. in related field.

Experience in studying biochemical and molecular biological aspects of lung (IPF, pleural fibrosis, etc.), cardiovascular diseases (aneurysm, atherosclerosis, hypertension, and vascular development), and/or metabolic diseases (obesity, type 2 diabetes and its complications including hepatic steatosis and gastrointestinal metabolic homeostasis).

Strong background in cellular and molecular biology and experience in working with genetically modified mouse models in disease models of the lung, heart and vessel, or obesity.

Experience in cardiovascular research will also be considered.

 

Preferred Education / Experience:

Expertise in non-coding RNA analysis and RNA-protein interaction.
