Job Description


The Chemistry Department at Scripps Research invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. We are seeking outstanding scientists in the broadly defined area of Chemical Biology. Candidates should demonstrate a high level of productivity in their field of interest. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an internationally recognized extramurally funded research program.

Scripps Research has a vibrant Ph.D. program that is ranked in the top 10 in chemical and biological sciences and boasts a collegial and collaborative environment, where faculty, students and postdoctoral fellows freely interact across disciplines to form synergy in emerging areas of research.

Candidates must have a Ph.D., PharmD., M.D., D.V.M., or equivalent in a relevant discipline, and an outstanding record of research that demonstrates originality in addressing significant questions. ​​​​​Successful candidates will be expected to establish an active research group, be an interactive member of the faculty, and participate in interdisciplinary research and training.

Candidates are also requested to describe how their program can uniquely benefit from the resources and expertise available at Scripps Research.  

Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and top candidates will be contacted for virtual interviews starting immediately. The first round of review will be on applications submitted by December 31, 2023. Applications will continue to be accepted until the position is filled or by the close of May 2024. Anticipated start date will be Fall 2024.
