The Russ College of Engineering & Technology's Institute for Sustainable Energy & the Environment at Ohio University invites applications for Carbon Utilization Postdoctoral Fellow position.
The Institute for Sustainable Energy and the Environment (ISEE) invites applicants for the position of Post-Doctoral Fellow with the research area focused on carbon utilization and CO2­ mineralization. The initial employment is for one year with possibility of extension. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: planning and conducting laboratory experiments to investigate conversion of CO2 into alkali carbonate products; planning and conducting kinetic analyses; developing process simulations; reading scientific literature to keep abreast of current research findings; identifying and assisting with acquisition of funding from public, private, and governmental sources; reading scientific literature to select and modify methods and procedures; completing laboratory experiment activities according to protocol; overseeing research facilities and personnel; writing and presenting research/study status reports for review and use of the principal investigator; preparing results of experimental findings for presentation to colleagues and the sponsor.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
  • Process Research: Responsible for achieving defined project milestones. Includes developing research plans, setup and troubleshooting new experimental setups, overseeing assigned daily process R&D research activities, including material preparation, conducting experiments, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Research Communications: Lead or support the development of project reports and new proposal initiatives. Publish journal manuscripts in peer-reviewed publications. Present research at regional/national conferences and industry meetings.
  • Student Mentorship: Advising and overseeing undergraduate and graduate student research, including manuscript development, presentations, and leading safety review board analyses.
  • Research Business Development: Identify new research partners, develop new research pathways, and conduct outreach to industry and academic partners.

  • This position will supervise student workers.

    Doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering or Related Field
