Department of Pediatrics is one of the largest departments within the UCSD School of Medicine with comprehensive clinical programs, extensive basic science and clinical research, and diverse educational opportunities for students, residents and fellows. Under supervision, the Research Data Analyst will utilize knowledge of data analysis, chemoinformatics, and/or microbiome analysis while working with experienced staff and graduate students, collecting and preparing data for analysis. The incumbent will obtain biological, metabolomics, genomic and other data from previous lab data and online sources. Integrates datasets from heterogeneous sources and maintains current database. Documents all sources of data and types of processing conducted. Retrieves any required subjects and data from database, format, and prepare files for analysis. The incumbent utilizes knowlegde of bioinformatics, especially metabolomics and demonstrates sound knowledge of drug transporters and their biology.

The incumbent will be responsible for application of a broad range of standard data analysis and standard bioinformatics methods. Demonstrates sound knowledge of drug transporters and their biology as well as kidney SLC drug transporters, especially OATs, and their basic biology and regulation.

The incumbent works on research data reporting assignments that are of moderate diversity in scope. Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Six (6) years of related experience. education/training, OR a Bachelors degree in related area plus two 2) years of relevant experience working in a wet lab setting.

  • Working knowledge of research function.

  • Working skills in statistical analysis, systems programming, database design and data security measures.

  • Working skills in analysis and consultation.

  • Skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing.

  • Demonstrated sound knowledge of drug transporters and their biology.

  • Experience in bioinformatic, especially metabolomics, preferably published.

  • Demonstrated sound knowledge of drug transporters and their biology.

  • Experience in chemoinformatics and/or microbiome analysis.

  • Two (2) years prior experience working in a wet lab setting that focuses on biology of renal drug transporters, especially OATs.

  • Published experience in analysis of large metabolomics datasets.

  • Skill in chemoinformatics and microbiome analysis based on wet lab in house data using latest software tools.

*Proven ability to collaborate effectively with wet lab researchers towards publication.

  • Demonstrates sound knowledge of kidney SLC drug transporters, especially OATs, and their basic biology and regulation.

  • Understanding of small molecule uremic toxins.

  • Knowledge of R, python, ggplot2 and RDKit.

  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $53,600 - $111,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $25.67 - $53.45

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
