Description

 

Postdoctoral position immediately available to study the cellular and molecular mechanisms affecting both venous thrombosis/thromboembolism and hemorrhagic stroke in aging with special emphasis on oxidative stress. These studies will involve investigating the role of that the small non-coding nucleolar RNAs (snoRNAs) in regulating gene expression involved in reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation and oxidative stress.  snoRNAs are canonically known to guide the chemical modification of other RNAs, with ribosomal RNA being the primary target. The role of these snoRNAs in aging is novel and is an active area of research in the lab. This project maintains a translational aim to identify biomarkers and novel therapeutic targets and pharmacologic agents to thwart them.  The lab utilizes sophisticated cell biology, molecular biology, biochemical and genetically engineered mouse models. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will perform independent research activities under the guidance of the PI in preparation for a full time academic or research career.

Qualifications

Required qualifications include a PhD in molecular and cell biology, and physiology or a related field.

Experience with molecular and cell biology, RNA biology, and cardiovascular physiology preferred.
