The Cooperative Agricultural Research Center (CARC) at Prairie View A&M University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position in a funded project by Shell in an area related to the study of carbon sequestration and soil responses, including microbial community structure to soil amendments.  The successful candidate will be expected to design, set up and conduct research in the field and lab, analyze data and publish in refereed journals, and present the project results at local and national conferences, collaborate with other researchers in the team, and mentor undergraduate research students working in this project.

This position is funded by a grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant or restricted funds.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field and lab research experiments.

• Data analysis, writing manuscripts, publish in refereed journals and present data in meetings/conferences.

• Collaborate with other researchers in the team, and mentor undergraduate research students.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

• An earned Ph.D. in Soil Science, Environmental and Natural Resources, Biology, or closely related fields.

• Proficiency in written and oral communication.

• A record of research and scholarly publication.

• Demonstrated experience in working in multidisciplinary research programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A Ph.D. with a focus on Soil, or Environmental Microbiology/Microbiome is preferred.

• Demonstrated experience with molecular microbiology techniques and in particular soil microbiome analysis (16s rRNA and ITS).
