Associate Degree Nursing Instructor

General Statement of Function
The general duties of these positions will be to teach Associate Degree Nursing classes and labs ranging from freshman to sophomore level courses during the regular fall/spring semesters and possibly summer and/or evening sessions. Duties will also include advising in subject curricula.

Regular Ten Month Contractual Positions: Aug 1 through May 31
Two (2) positions available.

These two positions are planned for a November 1 start date!

Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Attend required faculty meetings and computer training sessions.
2. Perform the duties and functions of an instructor as they pertain to the teaching of courses.
3. Prepare course materials, organize classes, keep student records, maintain classrooms and equipment, and other duties related to the instructional process.
4. Coordinate the teaching process with the needs of various occupations.
5. Perform all related and implied duties as may be directed
 

Qualifications
1. Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or master’s degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline (a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline) preferred. Equivalent Education, related work experience, demonstrated competencies in the discipline, and achievements that contribute to effective teaching and student learning outcomes will be considered.
2. Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in Mississippi.
3. Minimum of one (1) year clinical experience in nursing practice.
4. Recent teaching experience in RN education preferred.
5. Applicants with community college teaching experience preferred.
6. Applicants must possess an understanding and commitment to the comprehensive community college philosophy.
7. Applicants must have excellent references from previous employers and/or professors.
 

Licenses, Certificates or Registrations
Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse with an unencumbered license in Mississippi.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to provide physical and psychological support to students and patients.
  • Proficient in clinical skills.
  • Ability to critically think and communicate effectively.
  • Skilled in the use of personal computers and related software applications, including database management.
  • Knowledge of human resources concepts, practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments, including maintaining confidentiality.
