Description

 

A full-time postdoctoral position in is immediately available in the Department of Pharmacology, Addiction and Toxicology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC). A qualified candidate will work under direct guidance of Dr. Francesca-Fang Liao focusing on A NIH-funded project concerning clarifying potentially distinct roles of OTULIN play in different aspects of neuroinflammation and in neurodegeneration (e.g., tau protein modifications and degradation). We will use multidisciplinary approaches including cell culture (including human iPS neurons) and chronic mouse models of Alzheimer’s diseases to investigate molecular and cellular mechanisms. The new hire will be required to have strong training background in biochemistry and in neuroscience, and will be participating in multiple projects in the laboratory, including qRT-PCR, biochemical cell signaling pathways, memory behaviors, quantitative histology and RNAseq analysis. The selected candidate will have good communication skills and will have good communication skills and will assist the PI in supervising junior graduate students.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. on Molecular Neuroscience or Neuropharmacology.

She/he should have prolific experience in studying molecular and cellular mechanism of neurodegeneration. Prior scientific background in neurodegenerative diseases is strongly preferred .
