Who We Are::

The American Board of Perianesthesia Nursing Certification, Inc. (ABPANC) is a 501(c)(6) non-profit corporation responsible for the development and implementation of the Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN) and Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse (CAPA) nursing certification programs.
 

These national professional certification programs are designed for registered nurses caring for patients who have experienced sedation, analgesia and anesthesia in a hospital or ambulatory care facility. ABPANC currently certifies more than 12,800 perianesthesia nurses who have earned the CPAN and/or CAPA credentials.

Who You Are::

The Chief Executive Officer provides for the fulfillment of the ABPANC mission by demonstrating executive and administrative leadership; by recommending and implementing organizational policy, procedures and programs; by implementing and maintaining effective office and management company operations to assure attainment of organizational goals and services to key stakeholders; by assuring that ABPANC is strategically positioned to respond to a changing environment and key stakeholder needs; and by assuring that financial and other resources are available to meet ABPANC goals.

What You'll Do::

Within the limits of the Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, and Policies of ABPANC, the Chief Executive Officer is responsible for:
  • Ensuring the execution of the examination contract with PSI
  • Providing for efficient and effective day to day management activities, including:
  • recruiting, hiring, training, directing, supervising, evaluating, disciplining and terminating ABPANC staff
  • establishing and maintaining, association records, files and databases, including assuring the confidentiality and security of such records
  • distribution of materials necessary for the timely and accurate management of ABPANC business and communication with key stakeholders;
  • directing preparation of records such as notices, minutes of meetings, resolutions and other official documentation for the Board of Directors;
  • answering all routine correspondence and draft correspondence for volunteer leaders as appropriate;
  • routinely evaluating and revising, as needed, office operations to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Assuring timely and accurate information to key stakeholder groups, including:
  • establishing and implementing customer service standards that meet, or exceed expectations of key stakeholder groups;
  • identifying and implementing plans for the timely, relevant and efficient dissemination of information to key stakeholder groups;
  • identifying and implementing regularly established forums for communication, including, but not limited to reporting to the Board of Directors at each board meeting;
  • coordinating updates to ABPANC website;
  • responding to all requests for information about ABPANC in a timely and accurate manner;
  • providing for the review and revisions to all informational materials on a regular basis and as indicated;
  • providing for all marketing and advertising efforts as defined in a Marketing Contract;
  • identifying and ensuring for the implementation of recognition and award programs as approved by ABPANC;
  • establishing and maintaining effective communication links with the ASPAN Chief Executive Officer and others, as appropriate;
  • identifying and obtaining necessary resources for effective communication among office staff and volunteer lead
  • Assuring successful meeting and conference planning, including:
  • determining summer meeting site in collaboration with the President-Elect for their Presidential year;
  • negotiating and contracting the most cost-effective hotel and other related rates for all meetings, within budget constraints, using the services of a Meeting Planner as necessary;
  • developing meeting agendas in collaboration with the President;
  • coordinating the distribution of agendas and any related meeting materials to identified individuals;
  • providing an on-site contact for meetings to assure the availability of on-site meeting resources;
  • assisting the President and appropriate committees/work teams/task forces in planning and conducting meetings of the organization;
  • providing oversight of all ABPANC activities at the ASPAN national conference.
  • Providing for sound financial management of ABPANC by:
  • recommending and implementing policies and procedures related to financial activities;
  • assuring that a yearly budget is prepared, approved by the Board of Directors and administered according to policy and procedures;
  • assuring that monthly financial statements, quarterly financial Report and any other financial information as requested by the Board of Directors are prepared and distributed to designated individuals;
  • assuring that an annual tax return and audit, using the services of an independent CPA firm approved by the Board of Directors, is conducted;
  • managing ABPANC’s fiscal resources appropriately;
  • in collaboration with the President and other assigned board members, works to secure external funding of ABPANC projects and programs;
  • Contracting for goods and services provided by external agencies in accordance with ABPANC bylaws and po
  • Providing oversight for the nomination and selection process for volunteer leader positions according to policy and procedure
  • Providing oversight of the Recertification Program, including:
  • ensuring an efficient, timely and cost-effective renewal process;
  • ensuring the administering of the Review and Appeal program based upon ABPANC policy and procedure
  • Serving as an ex-officio member of and advisor to the ABPANC Board of Directo
  • Serving as a member of the Executive Committee and Finance Commit
  • Assuring that all legal, fiduciary, regulatory and psychometric standards related to the activities of ABPANC are maintained at all time
  • Assuring a strategic planning process, including:
  • monitoring and communicating to the Board of Directors all national association, certification, credentialing and titling issues, activities and trends that impact the mission of ABPANC;
  • implementing an action plan, as approved by the Board of Directors;
  • providing opportunities for strategic planning.
  • Recommending and implementing policies/procedures/programs to advance ABPANC’s mission.
  • Providing the tools and information needed by the Board of Directors to fulfill its fiduciary duty and board accountabilities, including leadership development15. What You Bring::

 

Required Education/Experience
:
  • Master’s degree preferred, Bachelors required
  • Hands-on experience as a CEO in a non-profit space required
  • The Certified Association Executive (CAE) Credential
