The Department of Biology at Tufts University invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Cell Biology to begin September 1, 2024. This faculty member is expected to maintain a vigorous research program aimed at understanding mechanisms of mammalian cell function and how their dysfunction leads to disease and aging. Investigations of cellular processes at larger scales (genome-wide or other types of -omics analyses) would also be of interest. The candidate's research is expected to complement departmental strengths in using model eukaryotic organisms to study genome function and stability in health and disease, biochemistry of major cellular processes, and cell biology of morphogenesis. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong potential for extramural funding and the ability to mentor students at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Preference will be given to applicants that use state-of-the-art imaging or cell physiology methods.

Instructional duties for the new faculty member will include co-teaching a Cell Biology lab and upper-level courses in Cell Biology, such as Cell Signaling Stem Cell Biology, or Molecular Oncology, depending on their expertise. We seek a candidate that can demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in their teaching, and to applying equitable pedagogical techniques proven to engage all students and promote their retention in scientific fields.

Tufts University has substantial resources and interdisciplinary initiatives that will synergize with this position, including the Department of Biomedical Engineering in the School of Engineering, the Genetics, Molecular and Cellular Biology Program in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, the Tufts Advanced Microscopic Imaging Center on the Medford campus, the Imaging and Cell Analysis Core at the School of Medicine, and the Data Intensive Studies Center (DISC).

A Ph.D. and postdoctoral research experience in a field related to cell biology is required.

Applicants should submit the following documents to http://apply.interfolio.com/130920 : cover letter, curriculum vitae, statement of research interests and plans, and statement of teaching experience and philosophy, which should include approaches to supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion. Three letters of recommendation should be uploaded directly by recommenders to Interfolio. In addition, submission of 1-3 publications that illustrate the candidate's research breadth is encouraged. Review of applications will begin October 16, 2023 and continue until the position is filled.
