Job Summary
The Hsuan Laboratory is seeking an outstanding candidate for a postdoctoral Post-Doctoral Scientist Position for Durability of Retroreflective Sign Sheeting Materials.
Essential Functions
- The successful candidate will work with an external testing laboratory to evaluate the weathering resistance of polymeric materials.
- The candidate is expected to carry out measurements at the external testing laboratory site.
- The candidate must travel out of state to the testing lab to measure the property of retroreflective sign sheeting test samples.
- The candidate must analyze the test data and models the degradation mechanism.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- A PhD or Doctorate degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, or Polymer Engineering is required.
- 2 to 3 years in related industrial experience is required.
- The candidate will have demonstrated expertise in acceleration laboratory aging and weathering testing, degradation mechanisms and prediction methods.
- Research experience in polymeric civil infrastructure materials is required.
- Access to reliable personal transportation and a valid driver's license is required as the candidate must travel out of state to the testing lab to measure the property of retroreflective sign sheeting test samples.
Preferred Qualifications
- Research experience in degradation and weathering of polymeric materials.
- Capable of working independently and in a fast-paced research environment.
- Strong communication skills.
- Special consideration is taken for a candidate with a strong geosynthetic background, specifically in sunlight degradation of polymeric materials.

Additional Information
This position is classified as exempt with a grade of J, Minimum: $ 47,490.00 - Maximum: $ 71,230.00. The offered salary is dependent upon internal equity and the successful candidate’s competencies, education, and experience.
