Reporting to Assistant Professor Daniel Belsky, the Postdoctoral Research Scientist develops and leads projects related to and working in close collaboration with Belsky's program of research into the causes and sequelae of biological aging. Specifically, the postdoctoral scholar will apply for mentored and independent research funding to support research on biological aging; they will lead preparation of scholarly manuscripts reporting research from these new projects and projects ongoing within Belsky's group; and they will contribute as a collaborator on other ongoing projects. 

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Collaborate on research mentored by PI Belsky to design, plan, and execute research into:
    • Measurement of biological aging from molecular and clinical data
    • Biological aging in the etiology of aging-related disease
    • Modification of biological aging by social and behavioral interventions and life history exposures
  • Prepare applications to the NIH and other funders to support research into biological aging.
  • Attend regular one-on-and and/or small-group meetings with PI Belsky to review progress, trouble-shoot challenges, and plan next steps.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

-Appointments will be for 1-year, with continuation pending funding and progress.

-No travel is required

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD in a discipline integrating biological and social sciences, including epidemiology, biostatistics, anthropology, psychology.
  • Experience and expertise in research using large datasets.
  • Strong scientific writing skills.
  • Expertise in statistical software to execute data management and multivariate data analysis.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience and expertise in analysis of high-dimensional genomic data, including DNA methylation.
  • Experience and expertise in integrating biological and social sciences research.
