Job Summary 

A postdoctoral researcher will participate in a translational autism research project funded by the Department of Defense. This project aims to assess the efficacy of peptides as a new drug for autism, particularly in neuronal morphology and neural circuits during brain development. A postdoctoral researcher is responsible for designing and conducting experiments, analyzing results, preparing figures and manuscripts for publication, presenting the results in seminars and conferences, and assisting graduate and undergraduate students.

Essential Functions 

  • Design and execute experiments.
  • Animal care and colony maintenance.
  • Data analysis.
  • Manuscript and figure preparation for publication.
  • Present findings at conferences and in seminars.
  • Assist in training junior lab members.
  • Meet with PI and other lab members.

Required Qualifications 

  • Minimum of a PhD in Neuroscience.
  • Ability to independently design and execute experiments and interpret data.
  • Hands-on experience in cell cultures, microscopies, animal(mice) handling, and general molecular biological experiments.
  • Strong record of peer-reviewed publications.
  • Outstanding oral and written skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Prior experience in primary neuronal culture, live imaging in vitro and ex vivo, survival brain surgery in rodents, and animal behavioral tests

Physical Demands 

  • Typically sitting at a desk/table.
  • Lifting Demands <25lbs

Additional Information 

This position is classified as Exempt with a grade of I, $ 41,120.00 - $61,680.00. The offered salary is dependent upon internal equity and the successful candidate’s competencies, education, and experience.
