Position Summary:

The Vice Chair will report directly to the Department Chair and will have a mix of clinical and administrative responsibilities. 

 

Major Responsibilities / Duties / Critical Tasks:

 

The Vice Chair will be charged with the following roles and responsibilities:

·       Develop a Departmental strategy to expand clinical service lines in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.  The Vice Chair will work closely with the Chair and Division Chiefs to develop and implement a clinical faculty recruitment strategy to support our expanding clinical enterprise.

·       Work with the Chair, UTHET Leadership (Chief Medical Officer, Medical Directors, and Senior Clinical Administrators), and Program Directors to promote engagement of faculty, fellows, residents, and students with quality improvement priorities. 

·       Develop strategies to promote population health through creative ambulatory quality improvement initiatives.

·       Work closely with UTHET ambulatory clinical administrators, staff, and clinical faculty to promote effective outpatient clinical operations.

·       Maintain a clinical practice with both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities within the Department.

Required Education / Experience:

·       Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or foreign equivalent

·       Board certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine with active and ongoing clinical experience in both the inpatient and outpatient environments.

·       Prior leadership roles within a health system related to clinical operations and/or quality improvement.
