ABOUT LIFEMOVES:
Since 1987, LifeMoves has been a nimble, results-driven organization whose mission has been to provide interim housing and supportive services that create opportunities to aid in the rapid return to stable housing and long-term self-sufficiency. Last year, LifeMoves returned over 2,000 people to housing and stability for 86% of families and 67% of individuals who engaged in their programs. With 26 shelter and service sites from Daly City to San Jose, LifeMoves provides its neighbors experiencing homelessness a temporary place to call home while providing intensive, customized case management through both site-based programs and community outreach that teaches and reinforces skills that clients need to return to and sustain stable housing.

LifeMoves is scaling funds from all levels of private philanthropy – including annual fund and mid-level donors. To that end, LifeMoves is launching mid-level giving and planned giving programs in FY ‘24. A mid-level program is key to creating a base of sustainable, recurring support and to delivering a compelling donor journey for this special donor group which includes a pathway to transformational giving for the organization. The Donor Impact Officer will play a key role in the inaugural year of this society and in building out the experiences, communications, and community buildings that will be the hallmark of this donor circle.

 

Donor Impact Officer
The Donor Impact Officer is responsible for managing a portfolio of current and prospective mid-level members (defined as $1,000-$9,999), including cultivation, solicitation, and strategy as well as stewardship and data analysis. To expand donor capacity, engagement, and philanthropy, the Donor Impact Officer creates opportunities for donors and prospects to become engaged with LifeMove's mission and to learn about organizational programs that align with their giving interests. Reporting directly to the VP, Philanthropy overseeing the Individual Giving team, this position also collaborates within the Development team and with departments across the organization. The ideal candidate will be curious, independent, and have experience with membership programs, development/fundraising, creating communication strategies, and implementing stewardship. Attention to detail, strong project management skills, and experience with CRM systems and databases are key qualities for this position. Strong phone, writing, and mail merge skills are critical.
This role will work hybrid with 3 days/week in the office or donor meetings. LifeMoves requires employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Play an integral role in launching LifeMoves inaugural mid-level giving society, planning, and executing experiences, communications, and community-building events in partnership with internal and external LifeMoves stakeholders
  • Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward mid-level supporters, managing a tiered portfolio with planned touch points, prompt thanking, and timely solicitations based upon tier assigned to donor or donor prospect. Meet individual KPIs as well as help the team reach the group revenue goal
  • Develop and test effective strategies to acquire new mid-level donors, retain current donors, upgrade contributions per donor, and feed high-potential mid-level donors into a pipeline for the Major Gifts Team. Initiate planned giving opportunities for the long-term benefit of LifeMoves
  • Implement a personalized outreach plan for each portfolio tier that shows appreciation, recognition, and engagement of donors. Determine which donors would benefit from more personalization and increased frequency of contact. Establish and meet goals for several contacts, visits, asks, and other identified moves that correspond with increased giving.
  • Tracks all call notes and responses, contact attempts, communications preferences, and interests in the donor database.
  • Effectively communicates LifeMoves mission, theory of change, accomplishments, and priorities to donors
  • Manages relationships with prospective and current mid-level members using multiple channels, including phone, email, personal mail, Zoom, and face-to-face meetings and site tours, when appropriate, while also engaging donors through consistent stewardship and active cultivation to increase donor support, achieve revenue goals and enhance the donor experience.
  • Monitors donors who have downgraded in their giving behavior fiscal year to date and move proactively to reverse this trend.
  • Assist in the development of written copy and coordination of images for use in cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation activities.
  • Monitor fundraising trends and attend webinars, educational sessions on fundraising, or conferences to identify effective new fundraising approaches and solutions.
  • Attends and assists with LifeMoves programs, cultivation, and stewardship events as well as conducts site tours with current and prospective donors as needed
  • Partners with the VP, Philanthropy on strategizing and implementing fundraising programs and projects as needed

 

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in fundraising/development in the annual fund, mid-level, or major gift arena
  • Proven track record of meeting revenue goals and setting budgets. Demonstrated ability to design and implement fundraising initiatives including personalized cultivation and stewardship strategies
  • Proficiency with MS Office and Salesforce preferred.
  • Strong phone, writing and editing skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Promotes team cohesion and a positive workplace culture by taking part in team, department, office, and organization wide meetings, trainings, skills sharing, and events.
  • Collaborates with Development Operations Team on donor data, data analysis, metrics, and portfolio recommendations.
  • Works in partnership with prospect development and gift officers on donor relationships and moves management; coordinates and executes donor introductions to other officers, etc.
  • Ability to accurately assess situations with informal or incomplete information and make good decisions based on analysis, experience, and judgment; maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to the needs and concerns of individuals from diverse cultures, backgrounds, and orientations
