Research Assistant Professor

A Research Assistant Professor position is available within the Division of Medicinal Chemistry & Pharmacognosy in the College of Pharmacy. The faculty member will develop an independent research program as well as collaborative research opportunities with other principal investigators engaged in several aspects of drug design and synthesis; analyzes, interprets and evaluates research data; writes and submits manuscripts, articles, and reports for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals; attends and presents results of research at national and international scientific conferences, workshops and seminars; writes and submits grant proposals to obtain funding in support of research; instructs and trains post doc researchers, research staff and students. Opportunity to contribute to academic courses as needed by the Division.

Required Experience: PhD in chemistry or pharmaceutical sciences is required; post-doctoral experience in basic research required; considerable experience in small molecule design and synthesis required; proven ability to write scientific reports, grant applications, and publish in scientific, peer-reviewed journals; experience in advising and training junior researchers preferred; proven history of understanding of key components of grant writing and obtaining funding in support of research required; experience with administration of funded research required.

Desired Experience: Knowledge of the use and applications of organic synthetic chemistry to biologically active molecules; experience using column chromatography, NMR, Mass Spectrometry, and HPLC desired; previous experience as a research scientist; prior experience working on projects in the areas of infectious disease and cancer research. Postdoctoral training experience (>5 years experience) in an academic research setting.
