Postdoctoral Associate

Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)
Doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent) in hand by the time of appointment. Strong background in molecular biology and protein biochemistry, and/or protein engineering.
Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with eye lens proteins, chaperone proteins, or protein aggregates.
Experimental skills in protein mass spectrometry, next-generation sequencing, structural biology, organic chemistry, or pharmacology. Big-data analysis and data stewardship skills.

Brief Description of Duties: 
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator
Eugene Serebryany in the Department of Physiology & Biophysics carry out a thorough and thoughtful experimental program focused on structural characterization, physiological consequences, and pharmacological targeting of non-native protein conformations.

  • Design, implement, and optimize research methodologies with the guidance of the PI and collaborators
  • Mentor and train more junior researchers and trainees
  • Contribute to the lab’s scientific publications, presentations, and grant proposals
  • Coordinate, lead, or support research collaborations as needed for carrying out complex research plans
  • Assist with day-to-day operations of the lab as needed for smooth continuation of research projects
  • Maintain careful records of data, protocols, and procedures via electronic lab notebook (ELN) software
  • All other duties as assigned

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
