Summary of Job Duties:

A well-funded laboratory in the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is recruiting a Post-Doctoral Fellow researcher in the field of cell & molecular biology of DNA double strand break repair in cancer. The candidate should be familiar with molecular and cell biology assys in human and mouse cell lines, cell culture, transfection, DNA repair assays, cell imaging, western blotting, and other relevant techniques. Experience in drug screening and HT assays is a plus.

The Cancer Institute treats over 2,500 new cancer patients annually and has an extensive effort focused on delivering cancer care and conducting research in underserved populations. Its 170+ members conduct outstanding cancer research in multiple scientific programs. The Cancer Institute has 6 institutional shared resource facilities. A robust clinical trial infrastructure currently supports nearly 270 cancer clinical trials. The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is one of 57 institutions with an NIH Clinical and Translational Science Award, which supports translational research and creates a supportive environment that synergizes with the Cancer Institute to promote junior investigators and transdisciplinary research.

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in cancer biology, molecular biology, biochemistry or related field required.


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Study the structure and/or function of genes and proteins in cancer.  

  • Independently perform experiments in areas assigned by the supervisor.

  • Assist in drafting manuscripts for publication.

  • Assist in mentoring or training graduate students, medical students, or undergraduate students.

  • Attend and present at national and international meetings and workshops.  

  • May perform other duties as assigned.
