Position Description Boston College seeks a teacher, scholar, and administrator to serve as Assistant Professor of the Practice in the Core Curriculum and Assistant Director of the Core Curriculum with an anticipated January 2024 or Fall 2024 start date. The successful candidate will have demonstrated academic, leadership, and program development abilities. This position is a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position with 12-month administrative responsibilities. Candidates with significant teaching and/or administrative experience may be considered for a higher starting rank.

Responsibilities include: teach a 1-1 load in the Core Curriculum in the candidate’s areas of scholarly expertise and interest, and assist the Associate Dean for the Core in providing academic leadership and day-to-day management of the Core Program. The administrative responsibilities include, but are not limited to, chairing the Curriculum subcommittee of the University Core Renewal Committee; participating in course development, promotion, and registration advising related to Enduring Questions and Complex Problems Core courses; coordinating Core Renewal pedagogical workshops; supporting the Core Fellow/Visiting Assistant Professor postdoctoral fellow program; and assisting with assessment and review of Core Curriculum courses.

Qualifications Doctorate in a discipline that can contribute to teaching in the Core Curriculum. Experience teaching at the undergraduate level is required. Experience in interdisciplinary curriculum development and evidence of educational administrative experience is an advantage. Also important is the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, colleagues, and students.
