RISE is a nonprofit organization that was established in 1980 as Aid To The Developmentally Disabled (ADD) by family members who were concerned about the physical and emotional decline of patients compelled to live in crowded institutions.

These family members believed that appropriate treatment and training in a warm, sheltered, homelike environment would enhance their physical and emotional growth. With the support, funding and licensing of New York State’s Office of People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) and the Office of Mental Health (OMH), ADD came to life.

We are currently seeking a Risk Management Specialist.

The Risk Management Specialist is responsible for all investigatory activities for our OPWDD, Elevations Clinic, PWW, and OMH’s programs. This is a non-exempt position.

Responsibilities:

The primary role is prevention of abuse/neglect for the indivdual we support.

Generates assigned thorough investigative reports- upload final reports to varying databases timely.

Generates quarterly incident trends for each division.

Conduct confidential interviews.

Types up reports and ensures thorough investigations and safeguards are implemented at the onset of the investigation.

Foster’s and maintains professional contact(s) with OPWDD, OMH, JC liaison, Law Enforcement, etc.

Provides support and at times onsite training on prevention abuse/neglect, incident reporting HIPPA, and Corporate Compliance.

Maintains a high level of confidentiality.

24/7 on call availability for the immediate triage and investigation of deaths, serious reportable incidents, allegations of abuse/neglect.

Participates in monthly Quality Assurance task force meetings.

Attends month IRC meetings and Human Rights meetings.

This position will also require some cross training on internal support visits and compliance matters.

All other duties as assigned by the Assistant and Director of Quality Improvement.

Qualificiations:

3-5 years’ experience in OPWDD and/or OMH field.

A trained OPWDD/MH Investigator with certification.

Knowledge of IRMA, NIRMS, WISR, OPWDD, Justice Center, and most importantly committed to protecting vulnerable people.

Proficient in computer skills

Organization and multitasking skills preferred.

Professionalism and effective communication skills are mandatory.

Confidentiality is critical to this role.

This position is team oriented, and is in alignment with the rights of all vulnerable people as well as the team members who work directly to support their goals.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $56,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
