The School of Natural Resources in the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR) invites applications and nominations for the H.E. Garrett Endowed Chair Professor and Director of the Center for Agroforestry . The successful candidate will provide leadership to the Center, develop a nationally-recognized extramurally funded agroforestry program, teach a graduate course in the agroforestry core curriculum, and coordinate the development of additional online course offerings.

About the College and Center

CAFNR, along with other MU collaborators, has world-class strengths in human health response to nutrition choice and physical activity, plant sciences and novel compounds, animal models for human health applications, genomics, natural resources, and food and agricultural policy. The Center for Agroforestry is nationally and internationally recognized as one of the world’s premiere agroforestry programs and covers basic and applied research, graduate education, outreach and economic development.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

•       Guiding Center’s research, extension, and teaching efforts and administering Center’s five faculty members, four core staff, and near 50 graduate students.

•       Development of a nationally recognized extramurally funded agroforestry research program in his/her specialized field.

•       Teaching one core course in the agroforestry core curriculum annually

•       Advising graduate students (MS and PhD) and postdoctoral research associates.

Minimum Qualifications
A Ph.D. is required, with at least one degree in natural resources, agroforestry, forestry, horticulture, agroecology, agricultural or natural resource economics, or a related area.

Candidates will be evaluated on:
National recognition as a scientist in agroforestry or a closely related discipline

Track record in refereed, peer-reviewed publications

Extramural grant support

Administrative experience

Leadership abilities.
