Job Description


Vascular Surgery/Diabetes Center of Excellence
The Nguyen Lab at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School is seeking a highly motivated and
independent postdoctoral researcher to investigate the mechanisms that impact innate immune cell
development in diabetes that leads to non-healing diabetic foot ulcers. The lab has established protocols for
human tissue banking, bone marrow oraganoid culture, and murine models. The Lab has a variety of projects
and seeks a postdoctoral position who is interested in developing algorithms to analyze and process large
sequencing datasets, image processing and quantification, biochemical and molecular assays. We have several
collaborators in the Diabetes Center of Excellence for technical and professional support. The postdoc will be expected.



Collection of discarded human bone marrow from the operating room
• Organizational skills to ensure detailed data collection and analysis
• Lab report, manuscript, and grant preparation
• Flexible work hours that may require work off regular business hours depending on available human tissue
collection
• Solve problems as they arise and communicate potential roadblocks to manage expectations
• Support existing research projects through the activities listed above



Advanced degree in biomedical science, data science, or related field.
• Experience with PCR, immunohistochemistry, cell culture, western-blotting, ELISA, and FACS.
• Experience with fluorescent image techniques and analysis
• Experience in working with murine models.
• Experience with basic sequencing analysis and statistics.
• Proven ability to collaborate with others
• A passion for tackling challenging problems and developing creative solutions
• A drive for self-development with a focus on scientific know-how
• Communicate effectively
