The Garcia laboratory has NIH and Male Contraceptive Initiative support to identify novel male infertility associated genes through novel targeted and whole genome sequencing approaches of clinical samples obtained through the Scott Department of Urology, and to confirm the functional significance of these newly identified genes through phenotyping of, and molecular biology experiments with, novel KO mouse models. We are seeking highly skilled and motivated scientists with expertise in mouse models and molecular biology wet bench work.

• Performs phenotype analysis of novel KO mouse models.
• Executes novel genetic and molecular biology experiments to dissect molecular mechanism.
• Generates human DNA sequencing libraries and set up and monitor sequencing reactions.
• Analyzes human DNA sequencing data.
• Plans, directs and conducts research experiments.
• Evaluates and analyzes data.
• Develops research techniques and performs applications required for specific research projects.
• Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
• Documents results of experiments and reports to principal investigators.
• Participates in management of human and animal protocols.

• MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
• No experience required.

• Four or more years of hands-on laboratory experience in wet bench work.
• Experience with one or more of the following: knockout mouse phenotype analysis.
