Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)
Doctoral Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Biochemistry or closely related field in hand by August 15th , 2023. Experience in experimental design, mammalian cell culture, drug treatment, western blotting, data analysis, and result reporting.

Preferred Qualifications:
Strong hands-on experience in LC-MS/MS and quantitative proteomics is preferred.

Brief Description of Duties:
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator Dr. Wei Yang in the Department of Pathology and Stony Brook Cancer Center . The well-funded Yang laboratory focuses on applying leading-edge multi-level proteomics approaches to understand and prevent cancer metastasis, a malignant process accounting for about 90% of cancer death. The project focuses on investigating the roles and mechanisms of RIPK2 in prostate cancer metastasis. Our recent findings suggest that targeting RIPK2 could be a paradigm-shifting therapeutic strategy for substantially extending cancer patients' lives and delaying painful symptoms caused by metastasis (Nature Communications 2022 ).

The Postdoctoral Associate will perform discovery proteomics, phosphoproteomics, and palmitoyl-proteomics to identify proteins downstream of or interacting with RIPK2, as well as targeted proteomics for high-throughput quantification of RIPK2 pathway signature proteins. The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University. The incumbent will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct research experiments in the field of proteomics.

Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related fields to analyze the collected data.

Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. May also assist in grant writing.

Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies as needed.

Other duties as assigned, which may include attending Scientific Conferences and Meetings.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
