  JOB DUTIES
  

The Semel institute is seeking to hire a part time limited Staff Reseach Associate 1. In this role you will be responsible for general lab-management and will be will be under the supervision of senior lab personnel. Your responsibilities will include: * Preparing plasmid and genomic DNA. * Preparing tissue samples from mice, including perfusion and cryopreservation of tissues, cryosectioning, and immunohistochemistry * Using microscopes to collect imaging data. * Performing western blotting of target proteins from cells and tissue and subsequent quantification. * Assisting graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and project scientists as needed on aspects of their work. * Preparing stock solutions for laboratory use. * Performing assays to assess RNA expression from cells and tissue by RTPCR. * Management of daily laboratory operations as necessary. * Assisting with general lab maintenance Pay Range: $25.75 – $30

  JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  

* University level course work in molecular and cell biology. * Skills in routine molecular and cellular biology techniques. * Ability to communicate effectively on a one-to-one basis sufficiently to convey experimental results to principal investigators. * Writing skills sufficient to compose laboratory protocols which are clear, concise, logical and display proper syntax and grammar. * Interpersonal skill to interact and collaborate effectively with scientist co-workers, graduate students, and faculty. * Skill in handling and disposing of contaminated material according to protocol. * Ability to organize raw data into relevant formats. * Reading skills sufficient to understand specific protocol relevant journal articles, and equipment. * Ability to perform library searches.
