Research Fellow - Gastroenterology and Hepatology
Job Description
We seek a postdoctoral fellow to support an NIH-funded project aiming to link human disease-relevant noncoding genetic variants to the expression of genes important for the neuromuscular control of gastrointestinal functions. The successful candidate should have a doctoral degree in life sciences and/or medicine and a strong interest in combining multiomics-based discovery with mechanistic investigations in reduced systems and validation studies in mouse models. The technical requirements for this position are first-hand experience, demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications or thesis work, with epigenomic concepts and technologies, e.g., ChIP-seq, open chromatin and chromosome conformation capture-sequencing methods, molecular cloning, viral transduction, and mRNA/protein depletion techniques, genome and epigenome-editing approaches and knowledge of cell and tissue culture, animal handling, and protein analysis techniques
The Enteric Neurosciences Program at Mayo Clinic Rochester, Minnesota seeks a post-doctoral fellow to join this successful and highly collaborative team. The project is focused on the cell biology of interstitial cells of Cajal and the role of those cells in regulatinggastrointestinal motility in health and disease. The successful candidate should have a PhD in cellular physiology, biochemistry, neuroscience, or immunology and an interest in cell proliferation, survival and fate, and/or regulation of cellular excitability. The technical requirements for this position are firsthand experience with the techniques of cell and tissue culture, animal handling, molecular biology techniques including PCR and molecular cloning, immunocytochemistry and microscopic imaging. Experience with epigenetic regulation would be beneficial but not necessary. An interest in voltage-gated ion channel physiology would also be beneficial for any applicant.
