Position Summary:
The UC Irvine School of Medicine Department of Physiology & Biophysics is dedicated to conducting innovative, cutting-edge research, engaging in high-level service and providing excellent educational opportunities and mentoring to students, postdoctoral fellows and residents in the discipline of physiology and biophysics.
Will contribute to ongoing projects related to research on chronic pain or Alzheimer's disease. Specifically, it will involve performing behavioral assays, stereotaxic surgeries, light sheet imaging, and analysis of data collected from these experiments. In addition to this central role, the position will also involve various laboratory tasks including genotyping animals, running PCR reactions, and assisting lab staff as necessary. Making solutions, preparing DNA, and conducting molecular cloning experiments will all be included. The ideal candidate will have previous research experience, particularly with using rodents as well as with microscopes, and schedule flexibility.

$19.69 - $22.82 (Hourly Rate)
Required:
One or two years working in a laboratory environment.
High school graduate or general education diploma.
Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma and one year of laboratory experience or two years of college including courses in the natural, physical or social sciences; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledges and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position. One or two years working in a laboratory environment will also be necessary to be able to perform the required tasks at the expected level. The ideal candidate will have previous research experience in an independent laboratory. In particular, experience using expensive, delicate equipment is highly valued.
