Job Description
Dakota County Technical College seeks a Full-Time Unlimited Heavy Construction Equipment Maintenance Instructor dedicated to excellence in teaching who desires to become part of a creative, vibrant, student-centered learning community. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to interdisciplinary and cross-cultural perspectives. Faculty members at Dakota County Technical College are professionally active scholars who participate in departmental and campus-wide activities to enhance their disciplines, promote interdisciplinary discourse and collaboration, and advance the college mission. Examples of Duties:
    • Teach Heavy Equipment Maintenance and Repair curriculum in a team environment
    • Develop and write Heavy Equipment Maintenance and Repair curriculum
    • Assist in student recruitment and placement for the HCEM program
    • Advise and evaluate HCEM students

 


Instructor is responsible for all activities related to teaching and learning including, but not limited to, instructional planning, curriculum development, student evaluation and records, student recruitment and retention, student advising and placement, classroom/climate preparation and management, interpersonal relations, promote safety in all aspects of program activities, purchase supplies and equipment, participate in professional development experiences, work as an effective team member of the department, maintenance of professional skills and credentials, and participate on college committees.

Required Qualifications
Education Requirement
  • Diploma in a heavy equipment maintenance program or a diesel and heavy equipment technology program.

 

 
Occupational Experience Requirement
  • Four full-time (or equivalent) years of verified related paid work experience in heavy equipment maintenance or heavy equipment repair.
 

Recency Requirement
  • One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Higher education teaching experience with a diverse student population
  • Experience with learning communities or team teaching
  • Experience in curriculum development
  • Experience incorporating technology into curriculum delivery, including on-line instruction
  • Experience developing and using student-centered, active and experiential learning strategies
  • Experience integrating cross-cultural and interdisciplinary perspectives in course instruction
  • Experience assessing student academic achievement of campus-wide and classroom learning outcomes

Founded in 1970 Dakota County Technical College (DCTC) is a public, two-year technical college in Rosemount, Minnesota. DCTC offers about 150 programs. DCTC will allows students the possibility to go right into work force after graduation. Students who graduate from DCTC gave a 90% chance of getting a job after graduation.

DCTC has over 2,000 students, and a very diverse culture. Students of color make up about 20 percent of the population. 35.2 percent of students are low income and eligible for Pell grants. Benefits Info
Salary: Full time faculty salaries currently range from $40,912 – $85,892 annually. Salary schedule placement is determined on the basis of education and experience and in accordance with the 2021-2023 Master Agreement between the Minnesota State Board of Trustees and the Minnesota State College Faculty.

Depending on credit load, the State of Minnesota offers:
