The Rural Outreach Coordinator position is funded by the U.S. Department of Labor Strengthening Community College Training Round 3 grant, Education and Support for Triaging and Accelerating Training in Rural Healthcare (EduSTAT in Rural Healthcare). This position will act as a liaison between Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC), rural healthcare employers, and rural K12 partners to recruit incumbent workers and/or K12 students into healthcare career pathways. The Rural Outreach Coordinator will provide case management to project participants, referring them to support services and resources to help them progress through educational programs and earn credentials to obtain employment in the healthcare industry. The Rural Outreach Coordinator will also propose evidence-informed strategies to address disparities and build capacity to promote student access to and success in health programs and at clinical sites.
 

Responsibilities:
  • Bridge equity gaps through intensive outreach, case management, and support of target population students.
  • Collaborate with and refer students to appropriate CVTC or K12 student services and resources.
  • Case manage progress of students and measure the impact of prescribed interventions.
  • Attend K12 events geared towards target populations.
  • Assist with creating promotional materials and marketing K12 high school academy options to communities.
  • Convene a Rural Healthcare Learning Community with employers, educators, and workforce partners to strategize on supporting and growing the regional workforce.
  • Collaborate to develop and launch a community public health event to address common health issues experienced by underserved individuals.
  • Strong customer service and organizational skills.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

 
  • Ability to collect and analyze data.

  • Intermediate knowledge of and skills with technology including software programs for communication, data collection, and decision making including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and to travel (i.e., access to reliable transportation) to various locations in CVTC’s11-county district as needed to fulfil responsibilities of position.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to education or healthcare.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience providing advocacy or support in one or more of the following settings: public health entity, healthcare organization, and/or K12 school district.
