West Shore Community College seeks an individual who is passionate about teaching in a successful rural nursing program with a desire to build strong relationships with students and colleagues. This full-time Nursing Faculty position (with potential for continuing appointment and full professor rank) will teach in labs and clinical settings and coordinate the Allied Health program at WSCC. This position begins August 23, 2023, and is a 9-month position with summers off. Successful candidates are collaborative, student-centered individuals. Job Duties

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Teaching base load (7.5 credit hours a semester/15 annually) in Associate Degree Nursing program, with potential teaching necessary in Allied Health programs.
  • Responsible for curriculum in laboratory, and clinical settings. Assignments may include evening and weekend hours. Travel to clinical sites is required.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and administrators to address teaching and community needs.
  • Participate in planning, curricular review, and assessment; participate in and develop programs to measure student performance; participate in national accreditation process.
  • Participate in professional development and maintain awareness of new trends and developments in the area(s) of nursing, curriculum, and instruction.
  • Provide leadership in the development, revision, evaluation, program review, and assessment reporting of courses scheduled in all Allied Health programs, with expected future growth of additional programs.
  • Assume responsibility for development of new site agreements and knowledge of existing affiliation clinical site agreements, affiliation clinical site policies and procedures, and limitations of student practice.
  • Recruit, orientate, supervise, and evaluate adjunct faculty.
  • Ensure adjunct faculty complete all required documentation, such as attendance and grades, by the requested dates.
  • Work with the Michigan Community College Association Center for Collaborative Programs on current and future WSCC programming through the Collaborative.
  • Meet other contractual obligations as defined in the West Shore Community College Instructional Agreement.

Qualifications

  • Master’s in Nursing from accredited college, or Bachelor’s in Nursing with evidence that an active plan is in place to complete an MSN within a negotiated time frame.
  • Current unrestricted licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Michigan or the ability to attain.
  • Current Train-the-Trainer certification or eligibility to obtain one (current Michigan Registered Nurse license in good standing, 2 years nursing experience in the last 5 years, with at least 1 year of experience in the provision of long-term care facility services or Hospice, and either completed a course in teaching adults or experience teaching adults or supervising nurse aides).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work and build positive relationships with community members, health care professionals, students, faculty, and administration.

Compensation

  • Salary range$44,998 – $94,345, commensurate with qualifications/experience
  • Summers off
