Job Description

Responsibilities*

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY

To provide excellent clinical and administrative support in a pediatric cardiology clinical setting. Please be advised that this full-time position is located in Lansing, Michigan.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

?         Taking and recording vital signs and collecting/processing specimens in point-of-care testing labs.

?         Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas according to approved physician-delegated protocols and standing orders.

?         Maintain In basket Messaging for Provider messaging, medication refills, Patient Portal messaging, etc.

?         Obtains and records accurate/pertinent intake information that includes preparing medical information and reports, medical history, medication information, allergies, surgical history, etc.

?         Perform ECGs as ordered during office Visits.

?         Responsible for placement of Holter monitor as ordered. Maintain a log of Holter patients and ensure the return of the devices on time.

?         Efficiently and effectively prepare, stock, and organize clinic exam rooms with appropriate supplies and equipment.

?         Serves as a chaperone during sensitive examinations,

?         Monitor patient flow and notify patients/families of schedule or provider delays.

?         Perform other assignments such as assisting with orientation, clinic opening or closing processes, supply inventory and ordering (linen, medical supplies, medications), data collection, patient calls, and quality improvement and/or problem-solving initiatives.

?         Prepare, complete forms, and ensure patients are given appropriate paperwork, i.e., test/procedure instructions, school, or work forms.

?         Prepares and administers all appropriate vaccinations as applicable.

?         Support virtual care appointments as applicable

?         Responsible for maintaining a log from the Clinic Red bag; reviewing and monitoring medications and supplies for expiration dates.

  • Flexibility in all aspects of work assignments.
  • Participate in creating efficient patient flow, coordinating with nursing, sonographer, and faculty.
  • Demonstrate the ability to multi-task independently.
  • Identify and track reoccurring operational problems and participate in resolution.
  • Perform other special projects, clerical support and duties as needed.
  • Maintains effective, collaborative relationships with other ACUs.

?         Responsible for ordering necessary medication and supplies.

?         Assist Office Staff in the Joint Commission preparedness.

?         Provide backup coverage for Check In, phones, and appointment scheduling as needed.

  • Coverage for other team members as needed.  Perform special projects as assigned by the Clinic Manager and work with Division leadership.

Supervision received from Congenital Heart Center Outreach Manager

 

Required Qualifications*

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Graduated from a accredited Medical Assistant program OR an equivalent combination of education and 5+ years of Medical Assistant Experience
  • MiChart Experience
  • Excellent Customer Service skills
  • Excellent Attendance
  • Excellent technical skills: MS Word, Excel, and Outlook

Desired Qualifications*

  • Prior Pediatric Experience
  • Performing EKGs
  • Placing Holter monitors
  • Ability to work independently.
