What We Want
The Laboratory Coordinator II, under general supervision, will oversee daily activities of the lab. The selected candidate will prepare materials, train teaching assistants, and teach/co-teach selected labs. What You Need to Know
Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate’s education and experience.
Schedule: Must be able to work non-standard hours.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Two years of related laboratory experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of spreadsheet and presentation applications
Ability to identify, assess, and solve problems
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding
Ability to use laboratory equipment, scientific apparatus, and computers
Ability to bend and/or stoop for long periods
Ability to lift and/or move moderate to heavy objects
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master’s degree in chemistry or related field
Industry and/or teaching experience
Knowledge of chemical safety protocols
Knowledge of chemistry laboratory techniques
Ability to assist in teaching Graduate, Professional, and undergraduate students in laboratory techniques
Responsibilities:
Teaching/Training: Assists with and/or attends training sessions for laboratory instruction. Coordinates, supervises, and leads instructional laboratory sessions while providing technical support for undergraduate and professional students.
Grading: Grades lab assignments as well as other homework assignments, quizzes, and exams. Scans and uploads student work.
Instructional Support: Coordinates and oversees ancillary instructional areas (offices, support spaces). Assists undergraduate and professional students with assignments, quizzes, and exams. Responds to emails related to teaching laboratories in a timely manner.
Technical Laboratory Coordinator Support: Assists with daily duties needed to maintain the teaching laboratories. Duties may include ensuring safety protocols during instructional laboratory sessions, preparing and setting up the laboratory for multiple labs each week, and cleaning the laboratory. Assists with longer-term lab organizational efforts. Ensures adherence to lab standards and practices to maximize safety and operational effectiveness, as well as performing other duties as assigned.
